Using Grounded Theory, we performed and analysed 29 interviews with 21 ladies in a 12‐week Swedish post‐partum lifestyle intervention with a 9‐month follow‐up. Interviews were made following the intervention and at the 9‐month follow‐up. To conquer initial obstacles to weight loss, the ladies needed a ‘Catalytic Interaction’ (CI) from the care supplier. It depended on individualized, cement, useful and specific information, and a psychological connection through joint commitment, trust, and accountability.
Weight loss was underpinned by the progressive introduction of typical health behaviors. However, the implementation depended on the experience of the primary category process ‘Transformative Lifestyle Change’ (TLC). This developed through a transformation procedure for reciprocal changes in cognitions, feelings, body, environment, behaviors and perceived self. Women achieving the phases of the TLC process were successful in weight loss, as opposed to those who didn’t. The TLC process, dependent on initiation through CI, resulted in the integration and implementation of recognized health behaviors, resulting in sustainable weight reduction. The TLC model, like the CI definition and build of obstacles, strategies, and facilitators has an explanatory model of this process.
